Privacy policy

Written to be read, not to be skipped. If anything here is unclear, email us and we will explain it.

The short version

  • If you fill in the statement review form, we send your details to our payment-processing partners so they can call you.
  • We do not sell your information.
  • The calculators on this site send nothing anywhere. They run in your browser.
  • Analytics and ads only load if you say yes. Saying no is one click and costs you nothing.
  • You can ask us to delete everything we hold about you, at any time.

Who we are

RateCheckrr is operated by {{VERIFY: legal entity name not yet decided}}, at {{VERIFY: registered mailing address}}. For anything to do with your personal information, contact privacy@ratecheckrr.com.

We are a referral service. We are not a payment processor and we never see your card numbers, your customers' card numbers, or your bank account.

What we collect

If you fill in the statement review form

Only what you type, plus a little about how you got here:

  • Your name, business name, email address and phone number
  • Your country, province or state, and city
  • Your type of business, how you take payments, your current provider, and a range for your monthly card sales
  • When you would like to be called, and anything you write in the notes box
  • Your consent: that you ticked the box, the exact wording you agreed to (currently version v1-draft-2026-09-17), and when
  • The page you submitted from, where you came from, and any campaign tags in the link you clicked
  • The country our security provider saw your request coming from

We do not ask for and do not want your card numbers, bank details, government ID numbers, or your customers' information.

If you just read the site

  • If you accept analytics: Google Analytics 4 records which pages were visited and roughly where from. IP addresses are anonymised.
  • If you accept advertising: Google may set cookies to show and measure ads on the pages that carry them.
  • If you accept neither: neither one loads. We do not track you.

Our host, Cloudflare, keeps standard server logs for security. Cloudflare Turnstile runs on the form to tell people from bots.

What the tools collect

Nothing. The card fee calculator, the effective rate calculator and the statement decoder all run entirely in your browser. There is nothing to upload and nothing is sent to us. That is deliberate: your statement has your account details on it, so the safest thing we can do is never receive it.

Why we collect it, and on what basis

WhatWhyBasis
Your form answers So a partner can review your statement and contact you Your consent, given when you ticked the box
Your consent record To prove what you agreed to, and when Legal obligation, and our legitimate interest in keeping records
Campaign tags and referrer To know which pages actually help people Your consent
Analytics To improve the site Your consent
Security logs and Turnstile To keep the site up and block bots Our legitimate interest in security

Who we share it with

Our payment-processing partners. When you submit the form, your details go to one or more payment-processing partners, who review your statement and contact you. We choose them; you are not put into an open auction, and we do not sell your details to anybody who will pay for them.

Each partner becomes responsible for your information once they have it, under their own privacy policy. If you want to know which partners we currently work with before you submit the form, email us and ask.

We also use these service providers, who handle data on our behalf:

  • Airtable - stores the lead record
  • Brevo - sends the email that forwards your details to our partners, and the confirmation email we send you
  • Cloudflare - hosts the site and runs the bot check on the form
  • Google - analytics and, on some pages, ads, both only with your consent

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Passing your details to the partners you asked us to introduce you to is the service you requested, not a sale.

We will also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or somebody's safety.

Where your information goes

Our service providers operate in Canada, the United States and the European Union, so your information may be stored or processed outside the province, state or country you live in. While it is there, it can be accessed by the courts and authorities of that country.

How long we keep it

  • Lead records: kept while they are useful for the referral and any follow-up, then deleted. The exact retention period is being confirmed and will be stated here before launch.
  • Consent records: kept longer than the lead itself, because they are what proves you agreed.
  • Analytics: kept according to the retention setting in Google Analytics.
  • Security logs: kept for a short period by Cloudflare.

Your rights

Whatever province, state or country you are in, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you
  • give you a copy of it
  • correct anything that is wrong
  • delete it
  • stop sending you anything
  • withdraw the consent you gave on the form

Email privacy@ratecheckrr.com with the email address and business name you used, so we can find your record. We will not charge you and we will not treat you differently for asking.

Note that once your details have gone to a partner, you will need to ask them directly to delete their copy. Email us and we will tell you exactly who has them and how to reach them.

If you are in Quebec

Quebec's Law 25 gives you additional rights, including the right to ask for your information in a portable format, the right to know when a decision about you was made by automated means, and the right to ask for information to be de-indexed in some circumstances. Use the same address: privacy@ratecheckrr.com. We have a named person responsible for privacy, and their details will be published here before launch.

If you are in California or another US state with a privacy law

You have the right to know what we collect, to have it deleted, to correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell or share it for advertising purposes, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you can still make any of the other requests at the same address. You may use an authorised agent.

If you are in Canada, outside Quebec

PIPEDA applies. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Emails and calls

The consent you give on the form allows our partners to contact you by phone, text or email about your statement review. You can withdraw that at any time, either by telling the partner who contacted you or by emailing us.

After you submit the form we send you one confirmation email, so you have a record of the request and a reference number. That is a transactional message about something you asked for, not marketing. Any commercial email we send will have an unsubscribe link in it, as CASL requires.

Cookies

Nothing beyond what the site needs to work is set until you choose. The banner appears on your first visit, "Reject all" is right next to "Accept all", and you can change your mind at any time through the Cookie choices link in the footer.

Children

This site is for businesses. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change it, we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information you already gave us, we will ask you again rather than assume.
