How we make money

No site is free to run. Here is exactly where our money comes from, in plain words.

The short version

We are a referral service. When you ask for a free statement review, we pass your details to our payment-processing partners. If you end up signing up with one of them, they may pay us. You are never charged anything.

Some pages also carry ads. That is it. There is no third revenue stream we are not telling you about.

What we are not

  • We are not a payment processor. We cannot process a card.
  • We are not a bank or a lender.
  • We are not financial advisers, and nothing here is financial advice.
  • We do not sell your information. It goes to our payment-processing partners so they can review your statement, and nowhere else.

How the referral works, step by step

  1. You fill in the free statement review form.
  2. We log your details and email them to our payment-processing partners.
  3. A partner contacts you, reviews your statement, and tells you what they find.
  4. If you choose to sign up with them, they may pay us a referral fee.
  5. If you do not sign up, we are paid nothing. That is a completely normal outcome.

What that does and does not change

It would be silly to pretend money has no influence at all, so here is where the line is.

What it does not change:

  • We do not publish "best processor" rankings we cannot back up.
  • We do not write worse pages about companies who do not pay us.
  • We do not invent numbers. Every rate or rule has a source, or it is flagged as needing one.
  • We will tell you when staying with your current processor is the right answer.

What it honestly does change:

  • Every page ends by pointing you at the free review, because that is the thing that pays for the site. We think it is genuinely useful. We would still put the link there if we thought it was only mildly useful.
  • We write more about merchant services than about topics nobody pays for. That is a choice about what we cover, not a slant in what we say.

Ads

Some explainer pages may carry ads. Ads never appear on the statement review form, the tools, provider pages, comparison pages or the legal pages. Ads only load if you have agreed to advertising cookies. You can change that from the "Cookie choices" link in the footer.

What we would do differently if we were being dishonest

A useful test. If we wanted to maximise revenue at your expense we would publish rankings that happened to favour whoever pays most, invent "average rates" that made your current deal look terrible, and hide this page. Questions

If you want to know whether a specific page is sponsored, the answer is no. RateCheckrr does not sell sponsored content. If that ever changes, it will be labelled at the top of the page, not hidden in a footnote.
